The County Executive Officer (CEO) is appointed by the Board of Supervisors to oversee the administration of county government and implement decisions made by that Board of Supervisors.

Carmel J. Angelo has served as the County Executive Officer of Mendocino County since March 2010. The CEO is the day-to-day manager of county government and represents the County and its Board of Supervisors in a variety of activities. The Executive Office oversees the preparation, adoption, and administration of the County’s budget and coordinates the activities of other county departments to ensure the effective accomplishment of the Board's directions and policies. The position of the CEO was established by the Board of Supervisors in Chapter 2.28 of County Code.
