The Staff and Volunteers of the Mendocino County Museum enjoy sharing this wonderful place with visitors of all ages.
Student & Adult Tours ~ Discover Our Story
A timeline of Mendocino County history awaits our visitors. The Museum consists of two main exhibit areas that contain relics from our earliest inhabitants as well as intriguing artifacts and hands-on activities. The Engine House located adjacent to the Museum also stores a locomotive, caboose, and other equipment owned by the Roots of Motive Power, a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of historical logging, steam and railroad equipment from the Northern Coast of California. Please complete and submit the form so that we can work with you to design a visit that educates and engages. We would be pleased to have one month's advance notice to do our best planning, but can handle requests with less notice. Upon receiving the request form, we will contact you to discuss and finalize the arrangements for your visit. Thank you very much for your interest.
School Outreach ~ Hear Our History
Enrich the 4th and 5th grade curriculum with a school performance of the Mendocino County History Alive! This interactive program brings California history to a local level. Many of these stories, songs, and historic photos have been drawn from the lives of people who shaped Mendocino County. Professional local actors will travel to local schools and bring to life the thrilling tales of yesteryear. From the collections and reference library of the Museum, this show delivers our commitment to preserve, interpret, and educate students in the history of Mendocino County. Please contact the Museum to discuss the availability of this program in local schools.
Annual Education Day ~ Explore Our Past
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore and encounter authentic objects from another time and place in Mendocino County. Each year, a program is created based on either a permanent, temporary or traveling exhibit. A guided tour, guest speakers and hands-on activities are included in this program. Please contact the Museum to discuss the availability of this program.
