RBS is a Mendocino County Family & Children’s Services program for children/youth who need residential level treatment due to mental health or behavioral concerns that prevent the child from safely residing in family based care. There are two RBS facilities in Mendocino County operated by Redwood Community Services (RCS). The child’s stay in residential care may be up to 12 months and during this time, the child, the child’s family and the RBS team works together to reduce the child’s behavior in order for the child to successfully transition back home or to a lower level of care. Once the child is ready to transition home or to a lower level of care, the same team of professionals who worked with the child and family during the child’s residential stay, will continue to work with the child and family in the home setting until the child and family have been stabilized.
RBS is also available to youth who are involved with Juvenile Probation and have an order for foster care placement.
