The annual adopted budget serves as the County’s primary policy and budget document. It communicates the Board of Supervisors’ priorities and how departments align their program goals and objectives to achieve them. The budget is structured to provide both high-level context and line item detail on Mendocino County’s operations and how the County strives to serve the community.
Mendocino County’s budget corresponds to a fiscal year that begins on July 1 and ends the following June 30.
In an effort to provide a more inclusive and transparent budget, Mendocino County is pleased to present our County Budget Portal.
Mendocino County partnered with OpenGov.com to provide a new web-based financial transparency and business intelligence tool that dynamically presents the County's revenues and expenses, from multi-year trends to line item level details.
Current Budget Workshop Materials
FY 2019-20 Proposed Budget
- July - December: The newly-adopted budget is monitored and quarterly reports are presented,
to the Board of Supervisors.
- February - March: A mid-year report is presented, parameters for the following year’s budget are
established, budget workshops begin and budget instructions are distributed to departments.
- April - May: Budget requests are submitted by departments, the Board of Supervisors conducts
budget workshops, a 3rd quarter report is presented to the Board and recommendations for a proposed budget are prepared.
- June: The County Executive Office presents a proposed budget for the Board of Supervisors to
consider and the Board of Supervisors holds final public hearings and adopts the budget for the next fiscal year.
Master Fee Schedule
The Board of Supervisors has the authority to establish and change certain fees or service charges. The purpose and intent of a master fee schedule is to establish a comprehensive consolidated fee schedule for County departments, with guidelines related to Mendocino County’s fees for services. The master fee schedule is adopted by resolution of the Board of Supervisors.
