PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff Update 3

The County of Mendocino has been continually monitoring the scope of the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event occurring in Mendocino County.

 The current PG&E De-Energization plan consists of 3 separate phases as follows:

 Phase 1:   De-energization start 10-09-2019 @ 12:00 AM (midnight)

                  Mendocino County - 6,397 total customers de-energized

Phase 2:   De-energization projected start 10-09-2019 @ 12:00 PM

                  Mendocino County - Unknown amount of customers or specific areas at this time

Phase 3:   De-energization projected start 10-10-2019 @ 12:00 AM (midnight)

                  Mendocino County - No customers projected to be affected during this phase

 OES Information:

The Mendocino County Office of Emergency Services opened at 5:00 am on Wednesday, October 9.

In an effort to alleviate non-emergency calls into Mendocino County public safety dispatch centers, OES has opened a Call Center (707-467-6428) for those seeking public information related to the PG&E PSPS event in Mendocino County.

At this time, it is not anticipated that cellular telephone services will be disrupted during the PSPS event in Mendocino County.

National Weather Service Information:

Interior Mendocino County, Southern Trinity County and Southeast Humboldt County:

Northeast winds gusting from 20 to 30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH are expected across ridge locations above 1500 feet over interior Mendocino County, southern Trinity County, and southeast Humboldt County this afternoon through Thursday morning. Gusty winds combined with relative humidity values in the single digits and teens will yield critical fire weather conditions. A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM today through 11 am Thursday.

Any fires that develop will likely spread quickly.

 Outdoor burning is not recommended.
