Author Talk: Jacki Warych

Did you live in Mendocino County in the 70s or wish you had? If so, the book Quake at Candlestick will captivate you! Author Jacki Warych will be doing a short reading and book signing on Saturday, May 19th at the Willits Library from 2:00-3:00pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Quake at Candlestick is a novel that starts with the fateful day of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Four of the characters are at Game 3 of the "The Battle of The Bay" World Series at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. Two boys are separated from their feuding grandfathers in the aftermath of the 6.9 earthquake. While the grandfathers search for the boys, the reader is catapulted back in time to the turbulent years of the 60s through the 80s in Northern California. View San Francisco's "Summer of Love" through the eyes of star-crossed teenagers, Katie and Eric. Revisit the final Beatles concert, Woodstock, Vietnam War protests, and the generation gap experienced by so many families of the time. Join the young Hippie migration to Mendocino County in the 1970s in their quest to create lives reflecting their countercultural values and lifestyles. Relive some of the thrilling baseball played at historic Candlestick Park leading up to the World Series of 1989. Did you come of age in the 60s or 70s, or wish that you had?
