Birding Great Courses cover

This Great Courses DVD course is taught by birding expert James Currie. Currie hosts the popular Nikon birding show “Birding Adventures TV” and has appeared on many National Geographic shows. He was a consultant for the 2011 birding movie, “The Big Year.” This free lecture series runs for twelve weeks on Wednesdays at 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., starting February 5 and ending April 22. Course facilitators are Drs. Bill and Pat Mutch, local birding enthusiasts and retired professors.

Many people are fascinated by birds and want to learn to identify and understand them more fully. This comprehensive course is designed for such purposes. Along with the DVD lectures, the facilitators will provide recommendations on useful bird guides, how to use bird-watching tools such as binoculars and scopes, and learning about local areas where birds may be spotted. While the course covers the species of North American birds, special attention will be given to western birds.

The class meets in the library’s comfortable Community Room. Questions and discussions are encouraged.
