Carolyn Cooke is a professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Arts (MFA) at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Her collection of short stories, The Bostons, was named one of the best books of the year by The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times, and was a winner of the PEN/Bingham Award for fiction and a runner-up for the PEN/Hemingway. Her novel, Daughters of the Revolution, was short-listed for the Flaherty-Dunnan Prize for a first novel, and was named among the Top Ten Books of 2011 by the San Francisco Chronicle. Her nonfiction has appeared in The Nation, Contemporary Literary Criticism and in New California Writing.
